About the event
On April 8th, 2024, the world will witness a rare and spectacular event - a total solar eclipse. To help the public better understand and prepare for this celestial phenomenon, Dr. Timothy Abel, PhD, will be giving a presentation at the Ogdensburg History Museum, 206 Ford St.
Dr. Abel, an adjunct professor of anthropology at SUNY Canton and senior archeologist at Timothy J. Abel, PhD, is also an amateur astronomer with a passion for celestial events. With his extensive knowledge and experience in both anthropology and astronomy, he is the perfect presenter to guide the audience through the upcoming solar eclipse.
During the presentation, Dr. Abel will provide a general overview of the eclipse, including its significance and how it occurs. He will also discuss what to expect during the eclipse and how best to view it. As an amateur astronomer, Dr. Abel will share his tips and tricks for safely viewing the eclipse.

The presentation will take place on April 7th at 1pm at the Ogdensburg History Museum, 206 Ford St.. It is free and open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend and learn more about this rare astronomical event.
