Ogdensburg, NY - On Friday, November 14th at 6 pm, St. Lawrence County Historian Nancy LaFaver and City Historian Julie Madlin will be hosting a presentation at the Dobisky Center, located at 100 Riverside Ave in Ogdensburg. The presentation will focus on the local people who were involved in the Battle of the Windmill, a significant event in Canadian history. The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
The highlight of the evening will be a screening of the documentary Land of a Thousand Sorrows Revisited, which tells the unknown and untold story of New York citizens captured in the 1838 Lower and Upper Canadian Rebellions, exiled to the penal colony of Australia from 1840 to 1860, and their legacy today.
